Lazarus GRIFFITH
(7 Jun 1708 - Abt 1771)
The Doane Family records that after the marriage of Lydia and Lazarus they removed to Middletown, Conn. [Note: Middletown is located in Middlesex County].
From the Beekman Patent: "Born 7 June 1708 and married Lydia Doane of Eastham 30 Sept. 1731 with intentions of 4 Sept. 1731. His wife was admitted 16 March 1734/5 to the First Church in Brewster and was dismissed from that church to the Church in Middle Haddam, Ct [Note: Middlesex County] 16 Aug. 1747. He is supposed to have gone to NYC or Brooklyn ca. 1752 but had come to the South Precinct of DC by Feb. 1753 and remained through 1771 when he evidently died. Lazarus Griffith, an inhabitant of the Western Society of Phillippi (Southern Precent, DC), signed the call for Rev. Knibloe in 1756. Lazarus Griffin's (sic) dau. Phebe was bp. 31 July 1757. Lazarus Griffin (sic) was a tenant in lot 8 of the Philips Patent in 1754." Note: Philipse Patent was previously known as the Hartland Patent. It is located in Province of New York, now Putnam County, New York.

Notes
Marriage
The Massachusetts Vital Records to 1850 is very confusing concerning the marriage. There are two intention filings; 3 September 1731 in Eastman, Barnstable County and 4 September 1731 in Harwich, Barnstable County. The marriage also has two entries; 2 September 1731 in Eastman and 30 September 1731 in Eastman.
The Doane Family uses the 2 September date.
