Individual Details
Lazarus, Jr. GRIFFITH
(5 Nov 1736 - 1802 - 1810)
As a result of his service in the 7th Regiment of Dutchess County Militia, he was awarded Land Bounty Rights.
In 1790 he is in Mamakating Town, Ulster County, New York. As with all pre-1850 census reports the family configuration is difficult to determine. The Beekman patent indicates that Joshua "had to belong to someone, either Lazarus or Nathan." (Note: possibly another son of Lazarus, Senior). With a birth date of about 1763, Hannah would only have been about eight years old so this writer has dropped Joshua as a Lazarus/Hannah descendant.
From Beekman Patent: "Born 5 June 1739 [sic]and apparently went to Queens Co., NY by 1758 where he was listed on two muster rolls. There is nothing but his name in the first but the second muster of Capt. Hulet's [Richard Hulet] Company, taken 18 April 1758, noted he was age 21, born in Cap [sic] Cod and was a laborer. He had a brown complexion and had enlisted 11 April 1758. He then came to the South Precinct with his father and was taxed there and in Fredericksburgh from 1769 thourh 1779. Lazarus Griffin Jr. was assessed at £1 in Fredericksburgh in 1777. He was awarded Land Bounty Rights for service in the 7th Regiment of DC Militia. He was probably the man who married Hannah _____ and went to Upper Canada, west of Hamilton, after the 1790 census when he was in Mamakating Town, Ulster Co., NY at 1-3-4 between Elihu Bennett and John Floyd Haines. Lazarus died ca. 1802-1810 in Beverly Township, Hamilton Co. His widow was still alive 6 Feb. 1824 and living in Ontario."

Notes
Birth
The Beekman Patent has his birth date as 5 June 1739 and Massachusetts Vital Records has it as 5 November 1736. In one of his military muster rolls on 18 April 1758, it indicates he was 21 which would favor the 1736 date. The Beekman Patent indicates that his muster rolls showed his birth place as Cap Cod. Harwich is a town on Cape Cod.
