Funeral services for Lester A. Bethel were held Wednesday, June 15, at 2 p.m. at the Blume Funeral Home at Shell Lake with Masonic Rites conducted by Shell Lake Lodge No. 221, F.&A.M. Burial was in Anah Cemetery.
Mr. Bethel died at his home, Spooner, Star Route, on June 13. He had been ill with lung cancer. He was 60 years of age, and was born February 11, 1900 at Rockton, Illinous. He was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Bethel.
For 30 years he worked as a commercial salesman for Jewett and Sherman and Holsum Products companies of Milwaukee and Green Bay. In his early years of selling he was a familiar figure in this area as the Gold Bond coffee man.
Survivors include his wife, Helen, and three sons, Jimmy, Glen and Gene, and a brother, Glen, of Oregon, Wis. He was a member of the Shell Lake Masonic lodge.
