"Parley Hughes, a farmer in Waterford township, was born in St. Lawrence County, New York, in 1816. When 14 years old he went to Canada, thence in 1869 to Hudson, Wisconsin, and in 1874, came to Rice County, Minnesota. Two years later he purchased a farm in that locality. Miss Susan Rambaugh became his wife in 1841. Manson, James, William, Miles, Agnes, Jane and Anna are their children living."
