Died Yesterday Morning
Maud, wife ofBen. Beaudry, died yesterday morning of puerperal fever. Age 25 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Beaudry have beenmarried one year.
Besideher husband she leaves a little babe 10 days old. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs.Goodsell of St. Croix Falls, Wis. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9o’clock from the French Catholic Church, Rev. Pettigreen officiating. Intermentwill take place at South Stillwater. Her mother and sister arrived this morningfrom St. Croix Falls to attend the funeral.

Funeral Yesteray
The funeral of Mrs. Benj. Beaudry was held yesterday morning from the FrenchCathilic church at 9 o’clock, Rev. Powers officiating. The paulbearers were J.Arsenault, John Bardaugtts, S. Coty, Felix Gagne, Jos. King and James Pominville. Interment took place at South Stillwater.
Puerperalfever, also known as childbed fever, was a common cause of death after childbirth until the 1930s when antibiotics were introduced. It affected women within the first three daysafter childbirth and progressed rapidly, causing acute symptoms of severeabdominal pain, fever and debility. Death usually occurred within tendays.
Maud’sdaughter, Irene, was born March 1, 1901 at Stillwater. Ben married a secondtime, to Ottilia “Tillie” Friend in 1904. In the 1905 state census he, wifeTillie and daughter, Irene, are living with Tillie’s parents, Robert andAugusta Friend, in Hudson’s third ward. Irene is also in their household in the1910 and 1920 censuses. Irene,married Forrest Butterfield in Centralia, Lewis Co., Washington in September1927.
