Ola Larson Floren

Ola L. Floren, born the 15th of October, 1835, Storfloren, Hegre clerical district, Upper Stjordalen, Norway. Beret Mikalsdaughter born Vignes, the 30th of October, 1829, Hegre clerical district, Forbygden, Norway. They had six children as follow: Anne (Mrs. Mikal Dahl), Lars (dead as an adult), Mikal, Ole (dead, adult), John (died at age 9 years), Bergitta (Mrs. Ingebrigt Aasen).
They emigrated in 1877 and came to Goodhue County, Minnesota where they resided for half a year; when they moved to Minnehaha County, and had their first home with Mr. and Mrs. Johan Bruaas, Sr., as Mrs. Bruaas and Mrs. Floren were sisters. They lived after that in a home which belonged to John O. Langness, and which at one time was owned by Wm. Melvin, one of the earlier pioneers here in the Sioux Valley. That was in the year of 1881, and the water was so high during the flood that Beret had to lay a board from the bed over to a chair to keep herself dry. They then moved to a farm which now is owned by Anders S. aas and which a Homestead belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Ingebrigt I. Loveng, who sold out and moved near Webster, Day County, South Dakota. Ola died there the 10th of September, 1883. The son Ole lived with the parents and Beret went with him when he purchased the neighbor farm north of there, and which at one time had belonged to Ole Ranum. She helped him until he was married, and then moved to be with her daughter Bergitta, and where she resided until she died the 17th October, 1906.
