Dorothy Sophia DeWitte, 87, a longtime resident of Hudson, died unexpectedly at her residence at Croix View apartments on Monday, August 24.
She was born April 8, 1911, the daughter of Herman August and Minnie (Grambo) Fredrick at Elk Mound. She received her education at the North Hudson School.
On September 22, 1928, she was married in St. Paul to John DeWitte, and they made their home in Hudson.
In her working years outside the home, starting in World War II, she was employed as a factory assembler at United Refrigeration Company in Hudson and retired in 1974.
Besides her outside work, she was a successful homemaker and enjoyed sewing and fishing. Another of her joys was dining out with her family.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John, in 1960; a brother, Ray Fredrick; and two sisters, Esther Richert and Lena Juker.
Surviving are two sons, Robert J. (Donna) DeWitte and Kenneth R. (Annette) DeWitte, both of Hudson; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson. Burial was in Willow River Cemetery.
