Silver Wedding at Solomon Lake
Dec. 4, 1924. The Solomon Lake church was the scene of a happy gathering last Sunday afternoon when some hundred and fifty friends and neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. John Floren gathered there to aid in the observance of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary.
Talks were given by Rev. Arnt J. Vaaler and M. O. Thorpe and musical numbers were given by Harry Sletten and Miss Stella Syvertson. Miss Birdie Rykken gave a reading. Senator R. C. Sletten, acting as spokesman for the friends, presented Mr. and Mrs. Floren with a handsome remberance of silverware. Following the program a fine lunch was served.
Mr. and Mrs. Floren have resided practically their entire married life in Willmar township.

July 18, 1949. Funeral services for John O. Floren were held on June 3 at the Solomon Lake church with the Rev. Karsten Kristinson of the Eagle Lake Lutheran church officiating. A vocal solo, "Den Store Vide Flok" was sung by Rev. Kristinson and a solo "I'm But a Stranger Here" was sung by Mrs. Donald Hedlund. The organist was Mrs. John Solmonson. Burial was in the Solomon Lake cemetery, pallbearers were: Olw Twete, John Swenson, Olie Birkeland, John Hovde and Alfred Hanson, all of Willmar and Robert Bergstrom of Atwater.
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Chrisman and son of Cedar Rapids, Iowa attended the service.
John O. Floren was born February 13, 1868 at Trondhjem, Norway. He passed away at his home at 933 Olaf avenue in Willmar on May 31 after an illness of six months. His youth was spent in Norway and he came to America when 11 years of age with his parents. From 1901 until 1935 he farmed north of Willmar. In the latter year he moved to Willmar where he resided until his death.
On November 30, 1899 at Grove City he was married to Signe Thompson, who with one son, Oliver F. Floren of Willmar, survives. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jean, Janet and Marvin Floren.
