Funeral for Mrs. Hoyer on Thursday; Survived by Husband and Six Children
Funeral services, attended by a large number of her friends and neighbors, were held for Mrs. N. C. Hoyer at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. v. McCarthy, on Fourth St., last Thursday afternoon, Rev. J. McR. Lilley of the Presbyterian church officiating. Interment was made in the Willow River Cemetery. The pallbearers, all long time friends of the family, were Jos. Eagan, Carl Ahlgren, R. J. Birkmose, Bernard Jensen, Martin Petersen and N. P. Anderson.
Mrs. Hoyer died at the McCarthy hme last Tuesday morning, March 19, after an illness of several weeks.
Marie Sorensen Hoyer was born in Droinglund, Denmark, September 22, 1855. She migrated to America in 1882, arriving in Hudson on May 21 of that year. On June 2, 1882, she was married to N. C. Hoyer and shortly thereafter they moved to Stillwater, Minnesota where they resided until 1892 when they moved back to Hudson. This community then remained her home until death.
Throughtout her entire married life, she found her greatest comfort in her home and family and at all times she was a devoted wife and mother. Kindly and neighborly, she will be missed by friends and neighbors as well as by the members of her immediate family.
Besides her husband, she is survived by six children. They are Alfrd S. Hoyerm Hudson; Mrs. J. L. Desperois, Iron River, Wis.; Mrs. W. V. McCarthy, Mrs. T. R. Hughes, Mrs. Grant McDowell of Hudson; and Mrs. J. B. Alm of Minneapolis. Five grandchildren are also bereaved. The death of Mrs. Hoyer is the first in the Hoyer family.
