Peder to Jensine Jenson [Undated letter, written in Spring of 1891 before Jensine left]
Dear Sister,
I will send you a few words tonight and tell you how I am. I am well at this time and hope that my wife does too. It has been about two weeks since I had a letter from home and then my wife said she had a letter from you where it says you are going to America this spring and because of that I now write so I can have your promose to write to me when you get there and give me your full address.
Dear sister, I think about you and wish that your hard times are over and that your time of sorrow that you have had since your husband left will soon end. Dear sister I know well that these years have been long for you since Nils left. I have asked about our poor poor sister who has had many long nights and days.
I haven't known other than he is a good man to you and you have told me that too. But since it took so long since you have seen him I started to think other ways. Jensine, my sister, I am so happy and so sad about your leaving. I am happy that you can have happier times from now on and my heart is heavy to know you will be so far away and we will never see you again in this life. And especially for our old father. He will lose his comfort. You are his biggest comfort.
Sister, I have been to talk to our brothers Daniel and Ludvig. It was good to hear that Ludvig is going to see Father this spring.
They told me you had a letter from our mother's brother Hendrik and news from our sister Olava. Dear sister, if you have Uncle's address please send it to me. When you get to America write to me and tell me everything and if you meet Uncle Hendrik ask him to help me.
Dear sister, write to me before you leave. That is for Tromso. I still haven't told you where I am. It is called Orsnes and is close to Ragae or Storvagen where our brothers are. I fish with nets this winter and about earnings I can't either complain or brag.
Live well my sister and greet your children and our father. Tell him to forgive me all that I have done in my youth and as a grown man. I would so like to talk to him before he dies, but I can't take the time or raise so much money. Greet Konrad that he must treat father well.
Live well and the Lord our God be with you is my wish.
Your brother Peder
