Rites At Harris For Mathilda Carlson
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 15 at the Lutheran church in Harris for Mrs. Mathilda Carlson, who passed away in St.Paul August 12th after a lingering illness.
Rev. Wilbert Johnson was in charge of the services, Mrs. Arthur Youngquist sang two songs, accompanied at the organ by Miss Alice Anderson. Six nephews served as pallbearers. They were Joe and Arnold Blom, Edwin and Gilbert Holmstrom and Gustaf and Clarence Berg.
Mrs. Carlson was born in Vestergotland, Skaraborgslan, Sweden, Feb. 17, 1870. She came to America at the age of eleven and was later confirmed in the Lutheran church at Spring Lake.
In 1888 she was united in marriage to August Carlson at Marinette, Wis., where they resided for two years. Then they moved to the farm at Harris, where they spent the remainder of their lives.
Mrs. Carlson had reached the age of 83 years and 7 months at the time of her death. Two children survive, Arthur of St. Paul and Mrs. Gilbert Hollander of St. Cloud, also two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Berg, of Wisconsin, and Charlie in Canada. There are nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, besides a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
