According to Theresa Dierks, 1990, John Sutter and Mae Anderson met when
both worked for Schaeffer's in St. Joseph township. Both Theresa and Sutter
family information compiled by Rose Ann Luce say that John left the Hudson area
without any notice in November of 1932 before their son, Sherman, was born.

May O. Dierks, 79, of Hudson died at Lakeview Memorial Hospital in
Stillwater Monday afternnoon, July 27.
She was born in New Richmond June 2, 1913, the daughter of Andrew N. and
Bertha (Haugen) Anderson. The family lived on a farm near Hudson and she
attended Hudson schools.
On Dec. 6, 1934, in Stillwater, she was married to her childhood friend,
William Edmond Dierks.
She was well known in the Hudson and St. Croix Valley area where for many
years she was associated in the food service industry.
Mrs. Dierks, who was a Lutheran, was a caring person, devoted to her
family. She enjoyed their celebrations and gatherings and was often called
upon for her cooking and baking skills. She frequently baked or cooked some
delicacy for family members and friends. Another of her interests was her love
for domestic animals, a love she acquired from her years on the farm.
She and her husband often enjoyed Sunday drives, visiting scenic locations
in the area.
The Dierks celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in 1991.
Surviving are her husband, William; five sons, Sherman Sutter, Thomas,
Roger and Val Dierks, all of Hudson, and Richard Dierks of Frederic; a
daughter, Mrs. Theodore (Josephine) Treptow of Hudson; a brother Bernard
Anderson of North Canton, Ohio, and many grand and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Anna F. Krueger, in
1988.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Redeemer Lutheran Church,
Burkhardt, with the Rev. Arnold H. Waznik officiating.
Interment will be in Houlton Cemetery, where the pallbearers will be Todd,
Jamie, Eric and Jason Dierks, Kenton Stewart and David Benoy.
