Convict Killed In Attempted Prison Break Stonewall Jackson Furr, 20-vear-old convicted cattle rustler, was fatally wounded when he attempted to escape from a work detail yesterday at Prison Camp 30 on Route 211 in Fairfax County. A camp spokesman said Furr and another prisoner made a break as they were working in an asphalt and gravel mixing plant behind the camp. He said a guard shouted a warning and when they failed to halt the guard fired at them with a 12-gauge shotgun wounding Furr in the back. Furr died enroute to Arlington Hospital. The other prisoner surrendered. Prison authorities would not reveal the name of the guard. Furr had previously escaped from work gangs twice, once in August, 1951, and again last February. He received two six-month additions to the one-year sentence he was serving for cattle rustling near Warrenton. Furr was from The Plains in Fauquier County.
