Death
Rosalie Alice Furr Postalwait went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 5, 2011, after a sudden illness. Rose was a loving and giving person who enjoyed baking pies for friends, visiting the nursing homes and volunteering with Roane General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was a retired financial clerk with the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. Rose was a faithful member of the Faith Baptist Church in Spencer, where she enjoyed playing the piano. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Audree Vance Furr, and her beloved husband, Donald "Jim" Postalwait. Rose leaves behind two daughters and their husbands, Jill and Steve Showen of Chesnee, S.C., and Vikki and Jim Nichols of Evans; and three grandchildren and their spouses, Jeramy and Monica Nichols of Danville, Va., the Rev. Kristopher and Andrea Showen of Chesnee, and Allison and Phillip Watkins of Proctorville, Ohio. Thomas, Elizabeth, Audree Rose, Emma Grace and Jhett, her great-grandchildren, will miss their Gi-Gi. Also surviving Rose is her devoted brother, Richard Furr, and his wife, Georgiana; and sisters, Wilagene and Jack Swinehart and Patricia Stacey. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at the Faith Baptist Church on Arnoldsburg Road in Spencer with the Rev. Kris Showen and the Rev. Waynce McGlothlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer.
