Death
Retired car dealer and former Grantsville mayor Willard V. Furr of Glenville died Friday, April 18, 1997, at Charleston Area Medical Center. He was born in Gilmer County, a son of the late Gilbert R. and Audree Vance Furr. He retired as owner and operator of Furr's Motor Land, Glenville. He was a former member and past president of Grantsville Lions Club, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Grantsville Masonic Lodge, Nemesis Shrine Temple of Parkersburg and Glenville First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lois Hughey Furr; two daughters, Alicia Ann Gower of Rangley, Colo., and Stephanie Dawn Furr of Glenville; three sons, Willard V. "Willie" Furr II of Clarksburg, Timothy Allen "Tim" Furr of Glenville and Nicholas Furr of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Richard Furr of Columbus; three sisters, Wilogene Shamblin of Akron, Rosalie Postlewaite of Spencer and Patricia Stacey of Fort Myers, Fla.; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Services were held at Glenville First Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Perrine and Rev. Gary Knox officiating.
