Death

Sallie Evelyn Newberry, 94, formerly of Ellison Circle, Waynesboro, died early Monday morning, June 9, 2008, in Salem. She was born November 6, 1913, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Norman Wallace and Alice Gertrude Furr Snow. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Jack Newberry in 1987, and her six brothers and three sisters. Surviving are her son Jay Newberry and his wife, Peggy, of Salem; two grandchildren, Tracy Reaser and David Newberry; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2008, at Augusta Memorial Park by the Reverend Dr. Glen Holman. The family will speak with friends following the committal service. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 246 Arch Avenue, or the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 877, Waynesboro, VA 22980. McDow Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
