Death
William Henry Furr, sixty-seven died at five-thirty p. m. Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. O. H. Fitzgerald, Jefferson highway, after an illness of many months. He was born in Augusta county, a son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Furr, deceased; and is survived by a son, Oscar Furr, Richmond; two daughters, Mrs. Leslie Fretwell and Mrs. Fitzgerald, route three; twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee Furr, county; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Tinsley and Mrs. Loma Brooks, Staunton. Services will be held at four p. m. today at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian church, burial following in the adjoining cemetery, pallbearers: active, Harry Meyer, Harry Desper, Wallace Byrd, B. H. Desper, J. F. Tinsley, O. H. Desper; honorary, nie Desper, George Gordon, Charles Harry Varner, Kenny Desper, Glen Tinsley and Charles Varner. The funeral party will leave the home of Hamrick & Co. at three-thirty Saturday.The Daily News Leader, Staunton, Virginia, September 4, 1943
