Death
Earl Mason Nicholson, age 90 of Normantown, WV, departed this life early Friday morning August 8, 2014 at the Cedar Ridge Center Nursing Facility in Sissonville, WV following a short illness. Born December 3, 1926 in Gilmer County, WV, Earl was the son of the late Henry Dow and Ona Furr Nicholson. Earl was a graduate of Normantown High School and Glenville State College. He was a Navy veteran serving in World War II. In his younger years he enjoyed Glenville State College sports and spent a lot of time raising cattle. Earl was also a retired Area Administrator for the Department of Health and Human Resources. In September of 1960 Earl was united in marriage to Kathleen Fox Nicholson, who preceded him in death on December 28, 1996. Surviving is one daughter, Vicki Jordan and husband Steve of Charleston, WV, a grandson, Paul Jordan of Fayetteville, NC and two sisters, Manoka Collins and husband James of Butler, PA and Betty Fahey and husband Paul of Fairmont, WV. Along with his wife and parents, Earl was preceded in death by one brother, Burl Nicholson, and two sisters, Jean Marshall and V. Helen Norman. Funeral services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. in Glenville at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Collins Community Cemetery in Stumptown, WV with full military honors provided by the Lewis County Honor Guard. Friends may call from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at the mortuary. Ellyson Mortuary Inc. is assisting the family of Earl Nicholson with arrangements.Endnotes
