Death
Glenville, W.Va. -- Harlan C. Furr, 74, of Fairview Rest Home in Beverly, died at 4:20 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 1993, at Selby Hospital In Marietta after a long illness. Mr. Furr was born Feb. 20, 1919, in Rosedale, W.Va. He was a retired owner and operator of Furr's Furniture and Appliance Store and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was formerly employed by Corder Appliance and a self-employed television repairman. He was a life-time resident of Zanesville and a Protestant by faith. Surviving are a son, James Furr of Zanesville; one daughter, Becky Spencer of Zanesville; three brothers, Donald Furr of Grantsville, Willard Furr of Glenville and Richard Furr of Columbus; three sisters, Paricia Stacey of Clarksburg, W.Va., Willogene Shambli of Akron and Rosalee Postlewaite of Spencer; and two granddaughters. Preceding him in death were his wife Nina Jean Furr in August, his parents Gilbert R. and Erma Furr, two brothers and one sister. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at Ellyson Mortuary Inc. in Glenville, W.Va. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the funeral home with the Rev. Eldon Cupplett officiating.
