Death
Mr. Lyle Lambert Furr, 57, of 118 Park Ave., Ranson, W.Va., died Friday, Aug. 6, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va. He was the husband of Mrs. Katherine Breeden Furr. Born in Leetown, W.Va., he was a son of Mrs. Mary Bruce Grubbs Furr and the late Norvel C. Furr. Mr. Furr had been employed with the Melvin T. Strider Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Leetown Methodist Church. Mr. Furr served as a sergeant of the American Legion Jackson-Perks Post 71 Drill Team for 15 years, was a past commander of the post, adjutant for 19 years, and served as chairman on various committees for local, state, and national American Legion affairs. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army as a master sergeant. Surviving, besides his wife and mother, are one son, Lyle K. Furr, Middletown; and two brothers, N. Clark Furr, Charlestown, W.Va., and Roy Furr, Hagerstown. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va., with the Rev. Charles Frum and the Rev. Joe Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charlestown.The Post, Frederick, MD, August 9, 1982
