Death
MONTICELLO — William Edward ‘‘Eddie”’ Furr, 78, of 717 W. Washington St., Monticello, died at 5:43 p.m. Wednesday in the Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas, following an illness of three years. Mr. Furr was born May 7, 1917, in Fowler. He lived in Monticello since 1954, moving there from Fowler. He married Lillian Thornbrough, in 1935 in Fowler, and she survives. He attended Fowler High School and served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Furr had been employed 381/2 years with Northern Indiana Public Service Co., retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Fowler VFW Post and the Monticello American Legion Post. Also surviving are a son, Thomas Edward Furr of Orlando, Fla.: three brothers, Arvel A. Furr and Harold Furr, both of Fowler, and Gerald Furr of Greenfield: and two sisters, Lillian Harris and Linnie Mae FitzHenry of San Bernardino, Calif.Journal and Courier, Lafayette, Indiana, December 1, 1990
