Death
Bernice Leona Tomey, 74, of Buckhannon, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, in United Hospital Center in Clarksburg. She was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Maise and Pearly Young Furr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Helen Carr and Wahneta Powell. She is survived by one daughter, Lori Dawn Ward and husband, John, of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Katherine Jean Ward of Buckhannon; one grandson, John Charlton Ward III of Buckhannon; two sisters, Verlyn Rexroad of Buckhannon and Murl Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three brothers, Guy Furr of Medina, Ohio, Kenneth Nelson Furr of Lodi, Ohio, and Larry Furr of Weston. Mrs. Tomey was a school teacher for Upshur County Board of Education. Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Billee Scott Mick officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.Endnotes
