BOY TRUCK VICTIM’S FUNERAL TOMORROWFrederick Furr, 8, Killed Near Cherrydale Home, to Be Buried at Falls Church.
Special Dispatch to The Star. Cherrydale, Va., December 29. Funeral services for Frederick Furr, 8 years old, 66 Preston avenue, Cherrydale, Va., who was killed yesterday when he fell beneath an ice cream truck near his home, will be held to morrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home. Rev. Thomas A. Rankin, pastor of St. Charles Catholic Church, at Clarendon, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Falls Church. The child, with a number of other, children, had been attempting to hitch a ride on a truck owned by the Southern Dairies and operated by Charles M. Timmons, 824 Eighth street, when he fell beneath a rear wheel. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Georgetown University Hospital. Timmons and his helper, John E. Dove, 147 E street southeast, were taken to the Arlington County Courthouse and released upon the order of Coroner B. H. Swain after they had satisfied Commonwealth Attorney William C. Gloth that the truck, an electric, could make little speed and they had attempted to keep the children from the truck. Young Furr, a pupil at Cherrydale School, is survived by his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Furr; a brother, Eugene, and four sisters, Dorothy, Virginia, Edith and Anna.

FATHER ASKS $10,000 FOR DEATH OF HIS SON
William H. Furr Holds Southern Dairies Corporation Responsible for Accident Fatal to Boy.
William H. Furr, Cherryvale, Va., has filed suit in the District Supreme Court to recover $10,000 damages from the Southern Dairies, Inc. for the death of his son, Lawrence F. Furr, 8 years old. The boy climbed on a truck of the company December 28 last and when employes of the defendant shouted at him he became frightened and, falling from the truck was crushed to death beneath the wheels of the vehicle. Through Attorney Crandal Mackey the father says the boy's death resulted from the negligence of the company’s employees shouting and frightening him.
