Joseph David Kelley

Joseph David Kelley, 75, of Bastrop, LA, died Monday, August 2, 2004, at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop. A retired district manager for South Central Bell, he was a member of First Baptist Church, Bastrop Optimist Club, Bastrop Chamber of Commerce, Mt. Gerzim Masonic Lodge, Barrak Shriners, the "Crew," South Central Bell Telephone Pioneers and a board member and past president of the fair board. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Joan S. Kelley; one daughter, Kathryn Michelle Borghi and husband Marco of Dallas, TX; one son, Michael David Kelley and wife Judy of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Bonnie Morrow of Little Rock and Martha Jones of Hamburg; two brothers, Charles M. Kelley Jr. of Bastrop and Billy F. Kelley of Hamburg; two grandchildren, David Michael Kelley and Shawn William Kelley, both of Richmond; one sister-in-law, Winnie Shuey of Fort Wayne, IN; one brother-in-law, E. O. Sumner of Tulsa, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, C. Morgan Kelley; and mother, Frances Kelley of Hamburg.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 4, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Ingram, Rev. Al Duncan and Dr. L. H. McCollough officiating. Burial was at Promise Land Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home of Bastrop.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Christmas, Venoy Kinnaird, Dale Rogers, Byron Rogers, Jim Bonsall, David Wilkerson, Cecil Brown and Boots Gladney. Honorary pallbearers were members of the First Baptist Church Ambassadors Department. Memorials may be made to the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church or a favorite charity.
