Florentia Konstantopoulos (nee Kakaletris)
June 20, 1925 – February 19, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Florentia Konstantopoulos (nee Kakaletris) on February 19, 2022 at the age of 96. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Florentia was the beloved wife to the late Vasilios Konstantopoulos (2000) for 49 wonderful years. She was the loving mother to Aggeliki (Demetrios) and Eleni (Vasilios). Yiayia will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Tammy (Peter), Bessie, Soula (Steve) and Mary (Alex) and her great-grandchildren Christian, Angelica, William and Constantine.
Florentia, also known as Flora, was born in Mystras, Laconia, Greece on June 20, 1925 to Giorgios and Eleni Kakaletris. She was part of a large family and was the beloved sister to nine siblings and beloved Thia to many nieces and nephews.
She and her husband lived in Agios Ioannis of Sparta for many years before moving with their children to Toronto, Canada in 1967 to build a better life for their family.
She loved her family very much and helped to not only raise her four granddaughters but also her great grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She loved to bake, cook and garden. She was known for her sense of humour, singing and dancing and loved to entertain family and friends and to host big dinner parties when they came to visit her. She loved to travel to Greece every year and had the most beautiful garden there where she welcomed and entertained family and friends.
The family was blessed to have her in their lives and with them in their homes. She will be sadly missed by all and will always remembered.
The Visitation will be held at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave. East on Tuesday February 22, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday February 23, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church, 1385 Warden Ave. followed by interment at Pine Hills Cemetery, 625 Birchmount Road.
