| Birth | Abt 1743 | (the most likely christening geographically is 18 May 1743 in St Nicholas, Arundel, father Thomas, a soldier, & mother Hannah, but we have nothing to prove this. I have a problem with a soldier being the grandfather of 3 boys who all were in trades to do with woodwork, namely cabinet making, carpentry and coopering. The other possibility is William bapt 13 Feb 1743 in East Preston (very close to Angmering), father Richard, mother Ann. But siblings Sarah, Richard & James don't carry through.
