In all at least 196 out of 310 immigrants were stricken with serious disease during the voyage. By the time they reached Cape Town 20 adults & children had died of typhoid, dysentery, measles & whooping cough. By the time they reached Port Phillip on 12 Apr 1841 another 25 had died. More than half the 70 children who boarded the vessel in Liverpool died on the voyage. To make matters worse Margaret was pregnant & gave birth to daughter Jane on 25 Feb whilst still at sea. Many migrants disembarked in Melbourne but some, like the Barkers, sailed on to Sydney on the ship when it left on 10 May 1841 & passengers were cleared 21 May in Port Jackson - Liverpool, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom - John BARKER
