Russell Hayes

(31 May 1784 - 28 Jul 1856)

Farmer; He inherited his father's place, the "Hayes Tavern" in W. Brattleboro, which for a long time was the family gathering place. The old residence was kept in the family until its destruction in 1960.
Some of Russell Hayes' original record books and papers, including his red handkerchief and other relics, are preserved in the Hayes Presidential Center, Fremont, OH.
