Vivian Furr Abernethy, 95, died on March 1, 2023. Born in Newton, North Carolina on July 29, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William Robert Furr and Edna Little Furr and sister to the late Robert Furr, Jr., Lowen Furr, Cyril Furr, Gibretta McGee and Juanita Robinson. Mrs. Abernethy worked for Owens United Insurance for 28 yrs.as an office manager. She later was a house mother at Nazerath Children's Home and after that she was certified nurses aid for DSS. Survivors include her son Jack Timothy Abernethy and grandson, Jonathan Abernethy. Graveside services will be held Saturday March 11, 2023 at Eastview Cemetery, Newton, NC at 2 pm. Memorials maybe made to Nazareth Children's Home, Rockwell NC. She said you may also plant a tree. Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, WEST, Watkinsville, GA is in charge of arrangements.
