Death

Mrs. Sally Joy Love Hunsucker, 92, of Lenoir, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, at Caldwell Hospice in Lenoir. Born Jan. 14, 1929, in Cabarrus County, Sally was a daughter of the late Dolph and Minnie Miller Love. Sally worked for many years at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital in Concord, where she worked in the offices. Later she worked at Fredrickson Motor Express as claims secretary. After retirement, she worked as a secretary for a realty company in Charlotte. While at Fredrickson Motor Express, Sally earned the "Flying Orchid Award" from Delta Airlines for her outstanding service to the airlines. Sally enjoyed working in her flowers, gardening and was famous for her fresh coconut cakes at family gatherings. She always called her great-grandsons "My Boys." She will be missed greatly. Her caring and giving heart were her true attributes. She met the love of her life, Paul Hunsucker, where they met in church in Concord. They were married for 65 wonderful years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Eunice Love Hartman; and two brothers, Cronnie Love and D.B. Love Jr. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Barbara Hunsucker Davis of Lenoir; granddaughter, Jennifer Rose Davis of Granite Falls; brother, Donald Love of Concord; four sisters, Yvonne Love Furr of Locust, Margie Love Talbert of Concord, Rachel Love Furr of Concord, Peggy Love Taylor of Charlotte; two great-grandsons, Tanner Austin Scruggs and Tristan Lane Scruggs of Granite Falls; special friend, Sheila Deal of Lenoir; and numerous other relatives. A graveside service celebrating Sally's life will be held Thursday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m., at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Pastor Jim Lee officiating.
