Death

Mrs. Peggy A Ghent, 80, of Lancaster, peacefully passed away Monday, January 5, 2015. Born December 5, 1934, and raised in Lancaster, she was daughter to the late Dewey and Dessie Shehane Furr and wife to the late Reverend Grady Cole Ghent. She is survived by her loving son, Reverend Gene Ghent and his wife, Carol, of Lancaster; daughter, Cheryl McAbee and her husband, Tommy, of Union, SC; brother, Charles D. Furr of Lancaster; sister, Doris Talbert of Lancaster; grandchildren, Reverend Ja Cook (raised by grandparents) of Clover, SC, Mica Jones, Daniel Ghent, Thom McAbee, Cole McAbee, Alisha Terry, Kimberly Waits, and Billy Cole Ghent; nine great-grandchildren; and many more loving family and friends. In addition to her parents, Dewey and Dessie Furr, and husband, Grady Ghent, Peggy was preceded in death by her son, William D. "Butch" Ghent, and sister, Evelyn Ray. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Liberty Hill Music Ministry, P.O. Box 170 Liberty Hill, SC 29074. A visitation will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, with a service to follow at 3 p.m. at McLean Funeral Directors – Mahaffey Chapel, 20 N. Catawba Street Lancaster, SC, with Reverends Mary D. D'Alessio and Ja Cook officiating. A graveside service will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park with Reverend Gene Ghent officiating.
