Death
Calvin Monroe Carpenter, 72, of Concord, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at Atrium Health-Cabarrus. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, where he was a member. Calvin was born Jan. 8, 1949, in Cabarrus County, son of the late Floyd G. Carpenter and Mary Robinson Carpenter. He enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Fisher Carpenter; a son, Billy Carpenter; brothers, Marion, Floyd, Joe, Wilbert (Bill), Ray and Leonard; and a sister, Helen Benton. He is survived by son, Allen Carpenter (Kathryn Stephens); daughter, Rebecca Furr (Robert); sister, Fannie Mae Stegall; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
