Death

The entice Hill Country mourns the pasting of one of its valued citizens, William Henry Furr, 86, who died Monday in the Peterson Hospital after an illness of several months. The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Smith Funeral Home with Rev. T. D. Sewell officiating, and interment will be in the Hunt cemetery. A native of Comal County, he came to Kerr County as a young man of 26 years and made his home on the North Fork of the Guadalupe River for many years and was engaged in the ranching business. He served several terms as the County Commissioner from Precinct 4, leaving the office when his health failed and his eyesight became impaired. He and Mrs. Furr bought a small home between Kerrville and Ingram and have lived there the last few years. He was one of the first members to join the Baptist Church after it was organized in Hunt. He is survived by his wife of the home address and four children: Mrs. Pearl Brooks of Ingram; Calvin Furr and Mrs. Lloyd Merritt of Hunt, and Mrs. George Cantrell of San Angelo; a sister, Mrs. Mark Cantwell of Medina, and a brother, Robert Furr, of Ingram; 16 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren also survive. His grandsons will serve as the pallbearers.
