Death
GASTONIA - Shirley Barrett Furr, 73, passed away Sept. 8, 2010, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia. She was born in Gaston County on May 18, 1937, daughter of the late Floyd C. Barrett and the late Margaret Adair Barrett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Homer Arrendale and John D. Furr; daughter, Kathy Arrendale; sons, Larry, Jerry and Malcom Arrendale; brothers, Newman and Jerry Barrett. Survivors include sons, Dennis Arrendale, Tim Arrendale, Mike Arrendale; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Tony Jolly, brothers, Floyd Barrett, Harold Summey, sisters, Kay Goulding, Jane Garrison; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Grover City Cemetery in Grover, NC, officiated by Rev. Chuck Dalton. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel in Gastonia.
