Death

KANNAPOLIS Melvin Cornelius DeMarcus, 56, of Kannapolis, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at CMC-Northeast Medical Center, Concord. Death was unexpected. He was born March 14, 1956 in Iredell County to the late Marvin Eugene and Gladys Catherine Furr DeMarcus. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Norman Eugene DeMarcus. Melvin was employed at Cannon Mills Plt. #1, Spinning Room in earlier years and, at the time of his death, he was employed at Value Village. He was a member of Landis Baptist Church. Melvin enjoyed music and played the organ and piano. He loved many and was loved by all. He is survived by his twin brother, Elvin DeMarcus, of Kannapolis; sister, Cathy De-Marcus, of Mt. Pleasant; and two nieces, Laurajean DeMarcus and Laura Harkey. He is also survived his dog, "Little Bit." Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, at Landis Baptist Church and will be conducted by Rev. Billy Honeycutt. The family 2 to 3 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. At other times, the family will be at the residence of his twin brother, Elvin DeMarcus. Memorials may be made to Landis Baptist Church, 110 N.
