Death
CONCORD - Coburn O. Barbee Sr., 68, of 1255 Old Charlotte Road, died Sunday June 6, 2004, at his home. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Harrisburg Church of God. The pastor Todd Jacobs will officiate. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park in Harrisburg. The family will receive friends at their home, 1255 Old Charlotte Road, from 6 to 8 tonight. Born Dec. 4, 1935, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of Carrie Wensil of Concord and the late Ira Lee Barbee. He was retired from Cannon Mills Plant No. 6 and he enjoyed farming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Furr Barbee, who died in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Amelia B. Corriher of China Grove; two sons, Coburn O. Barbee Jr. and Walter Barbee Sr. both of Concord; a sister, Darlene Thompson of Concord; a brother, Wayne Barbee of Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
