Death
Bennie B. Furr Sr., 72, of 331 Byrd St., Hopewell, died Monday in John Randolph Hospital following a brief illness. A retired chief electrician for Allied Chemical Corp., he was a member of West End Presbyterian Church and of the Woodman of the World. He was born Jan. 22, 1903 in Stanley County, N.C. and had been a resident of Hopewell for 47 years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Helen Glazebrook Furr of Hopewell; three sons, Bennie B. Furr Jr. of Chesterfield, Wilmer B. Furr of Portage, Ind. And Donald E. Furr of Richmond; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara W. Hancock and Mrs. Gloria L. Morton both of Richmond; nine grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Vivian F. Jones of Chesapeake and two brothers, Ira Clyde Furr and Leslie B. Furr, both of Hopewell. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Gould Funeral Home with Rev. Kennedy Smartt, pastor of West End Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Southland Memorial Park, Prince George County. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.The Progress-Index, Petersburg, Virginia, July 8, 1975
