Death
Rufus “Red” Furr, 75, of Dover St. in Pineville, died yesterday. He was a retired painting contractor. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Stough Memorial Baptist Church in Pineville with the Rev. J. Grady Faulk, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Park. Born May 30, 1900, in Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late Henry and Mattie Boatwright Furr. Mr. Furr was a member of Stough Memorial Baptist Church, the McCoy Sunday School Class, a deacon for 25 years, a member of the Joy senior citizens of the church. He was a member of the Navajo Redman Tribe. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Renia Bryant of Roswell, Ga., and Mrs. Phyllis Moore of Charlotte; two sisters, Mrs. Victoria Heffner of Monroe and Mrs. Lucille Bass of Pineville; two brothers, Royce Furr of Pineville and Robert Furr of Monroe, and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at McEwen Funeral Home.The Charlotte News, Charlotte, North Carolina, June 26, 1975
