Death
D. O. Furr Sr., 69, general contractor, died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday in Willis-Knighton Hospital Emergency Room after a brief illness. A resident of Shreveport 42 years, Mr. Furr was a native of Magnolia, Ark. He was owner of D. O. Furr Construction Co., a general contracting firm. Mr. Furr was a member of the First Baptist Church, L. C. Allen Scottish Rite, El Karubah Shrine, Caddo Masonic Lodge, Elks Club, Chamber of Commerce and Associated General Contractors, He was a 32nd-degree Mason. Survivors are his widow; a son, Dewey O. Furr Jr. of Shreveport; a daughter, Mrs. J. D. West; of Mobile, Ala.; two brothers, Weldon Furr, Magnolia, Ark, and Thomas Francis Furr, Little Rock, Ark.; three sisters, Mrs. C. B. Thompson Sr., and Mrs. Ed Johnson, both of Little Rock, Ark., and Mrs. Robert L. Baker, Los Angeles, Calif.; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 5 p.m, Monday in Osborn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David George, associate pastor of the First Baptist Church, and Dr. E. E. Taylor, pastor of Morningside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Grady A. Lindsey, Harold G. Moore, Harry G. Shutt Jr., W. M. Pardue, Paul L. Lashley Sr., Jack Hillard, C. H. Moore and Algie D. Brown.The Times, Shreveport, Louisiana, August 14, 1967
