Death
George W. Furr, 75, a retired Navy chief petty officer, died March 18, 1992, in a Richmond hospital. Mr. Furr was born in Montgomery, Ala. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, retiring after 27 years. He also retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation. He was a member of Fleet Reserve Association Branch 60, Scottish Rite Bodies, Johnson City Masonic Lodge 561 AF & AM and the Nile Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. He had been a prisoner of war during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Ritsu Furr; a daughter, Jo Ann Furr of Norfolk; a son, Roy C. Furr of Virginia Beach; and a sister, Myrtle Yarbrough of Montgomery. The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Rosewood Memorial Park with full military honors. Friends may join the family after the service at the gravesite.
