Death
Bruce Warren Furr, 68, of Route 1, died unexpectedly 9 27 p m on Dec 24, 1989, at the Durham VA Medical Center. A graveside service will be 10 am Wednesday in the National Cemetery of Salisbury with the Rev Raymond Miller officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Rowan County Veterans Council. The family will be at Lyerly Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9 and the remainder of the time at their homes. Born May 24, 1921, in Cabarrus County, Furr was a son of the late AW and Nettie Kezziah Furr. Educated in the Cabarrus County schools, he was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired carpenter and a Baptist and was a member of the Samuel C Hart American Legion Post and the VFW Post in Kannapolis. His wife, Emma Mathis Davis Furr, and a son, Wayne Furr, both preceded him in death. Survivors include three sons, Kenneth, Darryl and Douglas Furr, all of Concord, a stepson, Ralph Davis of Lexington, two daughters, Doris Ann Cruse of Concord and Sue Lakey of Route 1, a stepdaughter, Sarah Davis Walton of Granite Quarry, Four brothers, Vance Furr of Concord, Paul Furr of Kannapolis, Rodney Furr of Danville, Va and A.W Furr Jr of Stone Mountain, Ga , three sisters, Louise McAbee of Kannapolis, Sarah Miler of Landis and Carolyn Taylor of Salisbury, 16 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.Military
