Death

STANLEY -- Mrs. Sarah Ward Furr of Rollingwood Drive, died April 16, 2003 at her residence. She was a native of Columbus County, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Ervin and Rossie Floyd Ward. Mrs. Furr was retired from Belk's where she had worked in sales. A member of Faith Baptist Church, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include a son, Olen D. Furr Jr. of Charlotte; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Warlick and Rick of Stanley; four brothers, J.B. Ward of Fair Bluff, NC, Dow Ward of Charleston, SC, Doug Ward of Sherman, TX and James Earl Ward of Portsmouth, VA; two sisters, Ruby Oestreich of St. Louis, MO and Meredith Cataffo of Havelock, Ontario Canada; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olen D. Furr, Sr., daughter, Patricia Lynn Furr, two sisters, Inez Faulkner and Joyce Williamson, two brothers, Irvin Ward, Jr. and Bob Ward. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Old Plank Road, Lowesville, with Rev. David Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery in Charlotte. The family will receive friends Friday evening at Carothers Funeral Home, Stanley, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 North Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092. Carothers Funeral Home in Stanley is serving the family.
