Death
CONCORD -- Rev. Bobby "Slim" Lynn Morton, 69, of 1950 Coley Street, died July 8, 2002 at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord Chapel, Rev. Winfred Kimball and Rev. Clinton Efird officiating. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Morton was born September 16, 1932, in Cabarrus County, NC, son of Myrtle Shue Morton and the late Wilton Neil Morton. He was a retired carder from Cannon Mills and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, Albemarle. Surviving are hiswife, Shirley Morton of Concord; mother, Myrtle She Morton of Concord; sons, David L. Morton of Concord, Michael W. Morton of Kannapolis, NC, Rev. Bobby R. Morton of Chesterfield, SC, Robert M. Morton of Concord, NC and Thomas L. Morton of Kannapolis, NC; sisters, Barbara Ann Crocker of Leland, NC and Doris Kimball of Concord, NC; brothers, Albert Ray Morton, Arnold W. Morton and Doyt Morton, all of Concord, NC and Herman Morton of Burlington, NC; 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Rev. Morton was preceded in death by his first wife, Flora Mae Morton, a son, Everett Franklin Morton and a daughter, Linda Dianne Collins. The family will meet at his residence, 1950 Coley Street, Concord, NC. Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 28699 Millingport Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.
