Individual Details

Mary Ann suffered a tragic accident early in life. When she was a small girl, her father, Daniel, I, was out in the field cutting wheat with a craddle. She was very fond of her father and went out in the field to be with him. As she approached him from behind, he was not aware of her presence, and as he swung the craddle, the point of the blade struck her in the eye and put it out. This was such a shock to her father that when he realized what had happened, he fainted. Mary Ann was blind in one from this for the rest of her life.
