Death

ALBEMARLE — Robert James Furr, 51, of 1000 Poplar St. died Saturday in Stanly County Hospital. He had been seriously ill for two weeks. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Stanly Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by the Rev. Robert Elwood and the Rev. Darrell Furr. Burial will be in Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 to night. Mr. Furr was born Dec. 1, 1927, in Stanly County, the son of the late Marshall a Rosa Jane Furr Furr, He was employed by Albemarle Spinning Mills. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Austin Furr, one stepson, Eddie Franklin McCoy, with the U.S. Army in Germany; two brothers, Daniel and Louis Elwood Furr, both of Albemarle; five sisters, Mrs. Lillie Broadway, Mrs. Lula Morton, Mrs. John Helms and Mrs. Jack Mclntyre, all of Albemarle, and Mrs. Lloyd Honeycutt of Largo, Fla.; and two stepgrandchildren.
