Vera Furr Helms, 85, of 804 Efird St., Albemarle, passed away Feb. 3, 2010, at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle.A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Stanly Gardens of Memory, Hwy 24-27, Albemarle, with ministers Rev. James Potts and Rev. Wayne Richardson officiating. There is no formal visitation, but friends may stop by the funeral home to pay their respects. Born in Stanly County on Feb. 6, 1924, she was preceded in death by her father, Marshall Furr; her mother, Rosa Jane Furr; her son, Gerald Furr; and numerous brothers and sisters. She was a spinner with Albemarle Spinning and member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her spouse, John Helms of Albemarle; her daughters, Colean Boysworth and husband Danny of Albemarle and Carolyn Livengood and husband Benny of Salisbury; her sons, Terry Lowder and wife Tracy of Albemarle, Johnny Helms and wife Rita of Welcome, Jimmy and Phyllis of New London, Larry and wife Micki of Florida; her sister, Nellie Huneycutt of New London; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving person and will be by missed by her numerous friends and relatives greatly.
