Wm. H. Furr. The member of the Board from District No. 2, is one of Lincoln’s many worthy young men, having been born near Little Bahala in this county, Dec. 31, 1875. He was reared on his and two years spent in Brookhaven during which he was the faithful and father’s farm, being the youngest of four children, and has stuck to the farm all his life, except five short terms spent in teaching school trusted office deputy of Dr. R. R. Applewhite, a former sheriff. In September, 1906, when a vacancy occurred on the Board from District No. 2 by the death of the late J. C. Bryant, Mr. Furr became a candidate to till out the unexpired term, and so well did he stand with those who knew him best, he was chosen at the special election October 6, 1906, over four worthy competitors. His record on the Board was endorsed by a re-election this year for the full term over due of his former competitors. He is a conscientious, careful public servant and both in private and public affairs adopts as his rule of conduct Davy Crockett’s famous motto: “Be sure you’re right, then go ahead.” Mr. Furr was married in June, 1900, to Miss Lena Dorsey, of Copiah county, and is the proud father of five pretty children, which naturally makes him feel very much interested in his country’s future.
