Death
A graveside service for Myrtle Vivian Furr Manzanares, age 96, will be at 2 p.m. today in Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Rev. Jerry Holt, pastor of Liberty Southern Baptist, will officiate. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. She was born to Samuel Lafayette and Henryetta Lawrence Furr near Cherry Hill, Ark., on March 3, 1910, and passed from this earthly life to her eternal life in Christ Jesus, Saturday morning, July 29, 2006, in Enid. As a small child, Myrtle and her parents moved to Oklahoma, and ultimately settled in Oklahoma City. In 1934, she met and married George Peter Manzanares, and they made their home in Oklahoma City. She was a longtime employee of the John A. Brown Company, and during World War II she worked at Douglas Aircraft, which is now Air Force Logistics Center at Tinker Air Force Base. She and her husband managed the Milner Hotel in Brownsville, Texas, for 17 years before retiring and resettling in Oklahoma. In 1991, they moved to Enid. Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Ina Long and husband Don of Enid; one grandson, Dennis Long of Waukomis; three great-grandchildren, Mandy Long of Tulsa, Jared Long of Iraq, and Aaron Long of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and one sister. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Feed the Children.Endnotes
