Death
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary L. Slay, 45, were held Tuesday with the Rev. J.B. Welborn and the Rev. S. B. Harrington officiating. Mrs. Slay’s death came at the end of an extended illness. She was a member of the Baptist Church and Eastern Star. She is survived by one son, L. J. Slay, Jr., and one daughter, Mrs. Anita Self, Tchula; two brothers, Olian Furr, Mobile, Ala., and Luther Furr, Tylertown; three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Walters, Mrs. Minnie Bell Holloway, and Mrs. Maudie Newton, all of Bogalusa, La.; and two grandchildren, Bobby and Mary Jo Self. Burial was in Mendenhall. Pallbearers were Ralph Tutterow, Hugh Garnett, Joe Thomas, W. A. Owen, C. T.
