Death
Mrs. Maude Furr Newton, age 65, passed away in the New Orleans Charity Hospital Friday, July 13, at 10 a, m., after a comparatively short illness. Last rites were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in the Plainview Baptist Church, with the pastor, the Rev. Eddie Scruggs, officiating at the religious service. Interment followed in Plainview Cemetery, with the Brown Funeral Home in charge of final arrangements. Survivors are her husband, C. W. Newton, of Route 1, Bogalusa, the family home; three sons, Wilford, of Meridian; Marcel, of Vicksburg, Miss., and Monroe, of Bogalusa. Daughters surviving are Mrs. J. T. Ulmer, Port Allen, La.; Mrs. J. T. Blackwell, of Cleveland. Tenn., and Mrs. Joe Freeman of Natchez, Miss. Brothers who survive are Luther Furr of Tylertown, Miss., and O. L. Furr, of Mobile, Ala. Sisters are Mrs. Andrew Walters, Franklinton, and Mrs. M. C. Holloway, Bogalusa.Daily News, Bogalusa, Louisiana, July 16, 1951
